Caring for a
giclée print
A giclée print on heavyweight stock will look superb for decades — with a little common sense. Here’s the short version.
When it arrives
Your print ships rolled in a rigid tube. Let it relax flat for a day under a couple of heavy books before framing, and handle it by the edges.
Light
Pigment inks are stable, but no print loves direct, all-day sunlight. Hang it on a wall that doesn’t catch hours of harsh sun, and it’ll keep its depth.
Framing
- Use acid-free mounts to keep the paper bright.
- Glass or acrylic glazing protects the surface from dust and fingerprints.
- Leave a small gap between print and glazing — a mount does this naturally.
Cleaning
Dust the frame, never the print. If it’s unframed, a soft, dry brush is all it needs.
